I have a comfortable private office in Chapel Hill conveniently located off  Hwy 15/501 close to I-40 exit.  I am in solo-practice, however, share the office suite with two psychotherapists in private practice.  In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, I  am also offering appointments via telecommunications

I offer medication management and psychotherapy:

My practice predominantly focuses on medication management.  I also provide psychotherapy, but have only limited availability.   Taking medication can be crucial for a person to recover mental health and live a full life. Research has shown, however, that in many situations best results are achieved when medications are combined with psychotherapy.  Medication alone is not a cure-all, and most times people will benefit from learning better coping skills and gaining insights into their emotions. I would be happy to work together with your therapist if you are currently seeing one.

My practice is rooted in holistic nursing.  I see my role as helping people to reach their full potential and achieve their goals. To do so, I judiciously prescribe medications to alleviate excess anxiety, worry, anger, and lethargy.   I believe that many issues also need to be addressed with other forms of therapy or life style changes.

As a therapist, I use an existential-humanistic core philosophy and integrate a broad array of counseling techniques, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness training.  I am also fully certified as Realization Process Teacher and Realization Process Trauma Repair Therapist  ( See tab “Realization Process.”)  I believe people have the capacity for self-awareness and choice, and I help my clients to accept themselves and embrace their full potential for growth and change.  I provide coping skills training to manage symptoms and daily challenges as well as guidance to better self-understanding and healing old wounds.

I am experienced in treating  anxiety disorders, trauma-related disorders, mood disorders, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and psychotic disorders.   I am licensed to treat adolescents and adults, and currently take clients age 18 years and older.

I especially want to welcome members of the LGBTQ community, and I make a continuing effort to learn about their specific needs and treatment issues.

I am in network with and accept only BCBS and Medicare.   Please call the office at (919) 998-9177 to verify.  I also offer reduced fees for people with no insurance.
