I have a comfortable private office in Chapel Hill conveniently located off  Hwy 15/501 close to I-40 exit.  I am in solo-practice, however, share the office suite with two psychotherapists in private practice.  In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, I  am also offering appointments via telecommunications

I offer medication management and psychotherapy:

My practice predominantly focuses on medication management.  I also provide short-term psychotherapy.  Taking medication can be crucial for a person to recover mental health and live a full life. Research has shown, however, that in many situations best results are achieved when medications are combined with psychotherapy.  Medication alone is not a cure-all, and most times people will benefit from learning better coping skills and gaining insights into their emotions. I would be happy to work together with your therapist if you are currently seeing one.

My practice is rooted in holistic nursing.  I see my role as helping people to reach their full potential and achieve their goals. To do so, I judiciously prescribe medications to alleviate excess anxiety, worry, anger, and lethargy.   I believe that many issues also need to be addressed with other forms of therapy or life style changes.

As a therapist, I use an existential-humanistic core philosophy and integrate a broad array of counseling techniques, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness training.  I believe people have the capacity for self-awareness and choice, and I help my clients to accept themselves and embrace their full potential for growth and change.  I provide coping skills training to manage symptoms and daily challenges.

I am experienced in treating  anxiety disorders, trauma-related disorders, mood disorders, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and psychotic disorders.   I am licensed to treat adolescents and adults, and currently take clients age 18 years and older.

I especially want to welcome members of the LGBTQ community, and I make a continuing effort to learn about their specific needs and treatment issues.

I accept  BCBS, Medicare and will file insurance claims for out-of-network policies.  Please call the office at (919) 998-9177 to verify.  I also offer reduced fees for people with no insurance.

Introduction to the Realization Process® – Embodiment Meditation

I am happy to announce that I am finally offering a meditation class based on the teachings of Judith Blackstone, PhD, founder of the Realization Process®. I have been certified as an Embodiment Teacher since May of 2018, and it is time for me to share her gifts.

“The Realization Process is a series of practices for opening the body, heart and mind to nondual reality. In this approach, the radical openness of nondual awakening is found through inward contact with the internal space of your body. In this way, you uncover a quality-rich, authentic experience of yourself as an individual at the same time as you transcend your individuality. You uncover the ground of your being as the luminous transparency of fundamental consciousness, pervading your body and environment as a unity.” – Judith Blackstone, PhD.

There are no  current classes because of COVID-19.  A new set of classes will be  starting hopefully in September 2020.   Feel free to tentatively sign-up now.

Class will be meeting on four Saturdays from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon at 150 Providence Road, Ste 201, Chapel Hill, NC 27514.

This first set of classes will guide students to make deep contact with themselves and be open to the environment. No previous meditation experience is necessary. An open and curious mind is helpful.

The classes are free of charge. There will be an opportunity to give a love offering to selected charities.

I am asking for a commitment to attend all four classes. If interested, please call me at 919-998-9177, and I will help you to determine whether the class is right for you.

The class size will be limited to eight students. If the demand is greater, I will offer more classes in the future.
